Breeding Activities

Farmers have taken up cross-breeding from way back in 1962. The Union has surveyed and appropriately located AI centers based on cattle population. It is also popularized the idea of cluster AI centers and replace the Single AI centers in a phased manner. The use of progeny tested semen from ‘ Nandini Sperm Stationis ‘ also giving a further boost to the breeding activities.

To reduce infertility in cattle, a frontal attack has been continuously attempted by conducting Special Infertility Camps under the expert guidance and by the use of infertility connected drugs.

 

  • All Dairy cooperatives are being provided with door step A.I service at subsidized charges.
  • Imported semen of HF and Gersey breeds are being used to improve the genetic potential of the animals
  • Production of high pedigree bull calves for semen stations through progeny testing program.
  • Regular animal infertility camps with the Expert to achieve better conception rate.

 

Procurement and storage of liquid nitrogen and the capacity of 10,000 litres silo at BAMUL under Technology Mission on Dairy Development to facilitate the supply of liquid nitrogen to all District milk unions and Department of Animal Husbandry and veterinary services of Bangalore urban, rural and Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumkur for the purpose of storage of semen.
